"Such mi organization of stockholders
could be iffectlve not alone In curbing
Unjust legislation against the railroads
and the Industrials, but would also serve
as a restraining Influence on the manage
ment of the properties owned, and as a
corrective for unwise or extravagant con
duct of the business of such corporations."
Mr. Hcheftel's resolution ut his request
was referred to the executive committee
for action.
Certain provisions of the workmen's
compensation bill now pending at Albany
were criticised as violating the principles
which the Chamber of Commerco advo
cated on January -, 1 ! 1 3 . It was stated
that the benefits provided In the bill are
greater than those conferred In any other
State,
The report of Charles II. Bernhelmer,
chairman of the committee on Interna
tional commerce arbitration, was unani
mously adopted.
The report of Henry I.. Satterlee. chair
man of the special committee on the Na
tional Ciurd and Naval Mllltla, offered
icsolutlons that every employee who be
came a member of the two military
bodies be allowed by his employer during
the term of his enlistment, not to exceed
five e,ii. fourteen days In each ear for
military service without deduction In pay
and that this period be not Judged against
his vacation. These resolutions were
unanimously adopted.
