Clark received a majority of votes, but was unable to obtain the necessary two thirds, and then recites Mr. Clark's loyal support of tho Prealdent since that time. Ho knew that In taking this stand ho would concentrate violent and bitter criti cism on himself. His speech was suppressed, misrepresented and gar bled. Another attack upon Herbert Hoover came out of tho headquarters of United States Senator Johnson In the Hotel Pennsylvania yesterday. It was In the nature of an Interview with C. 8. Bar rett, president or tho National Farmers Union, who asserted that "a member of King George's Privy Council" had ap proached him to learn how the farmers considered the Hoover candidacy. "Herbert, Hoover was declared to be the candidate of Wall Street and entirely acceptable to Great Britain," said the statement "Mr. Barrett said tho farm ers of tho United etates should not sup port tho former, Pood Administrator, and when fully acquainted with his record would not do so.
