the Chicago corn market, as the Board

.The present tightness In the market
was regarded as largely the ixsult of

Washington about conditions It was
thought that steps might be taken to re

General selling carried the corn mar

nt1 tcmiicrarlly there was a noticeable
qfisence of any real support for prices.
Most Initial selling was bssed on ' a
prevalent opinion that something of a
cethack would be ratural alter the sud

ket had weakened and weather con
ditions were more favorable for work
In the fields and for maturing the crop.
Predictions of a large supply of cars
tended also to handicap the bulls. Later
sentiment changed to. a, considerable de

corn available fos.lmmedIate use was
too scanty to satisfy current demands.
The" nearby options were conspicuous
In the rallies which followed.
increased rural offerings made oats
relatively -weaker than corn. Prqvlslons
averaged lower, chiefly as a result of
down turns Jn the hog market i Strong
