Cincinnati Industrial Exposition Buildings, 1873.
We present our readers above with a view of the building of the. Cincinnati Industrial Exposition, In which the Fourth.
Annual, Exposition l to be held from Scptemberr3 to October iySy ,,..' c
This (rrenfr Exhibition, which is the foremost among similar entcrpriaev ill this country, is already well known to many o
our reader, but we give aotnc dcBila.hich are of. general interest.
The buildings are situated in the hearcfi the-sitjt, and. are five In number, Including the Art Hall, which is connected with
the rest by a bridire across Elm street, shown at the left of the fi(rtw. They furniab to ex!tjbti.ncaljf eight acres of space,
the Power Hall alone comprising over an acre of everv variety of machinery in motion. The Rxpositvoet k divided into sixteen
departments, and each of the great halls is filled with the mvnad products of American Industrial enterprise, displayed in. the
moeb ajratie forms and with endless profusion. It may be justly termed a popular school of art and Industry, teaching; by.
object lessons of the moat vuV.id and attractive description. ' ' ,
Its immense popularity is partlv due ta the Mtral kwation of Cincinnati, but mainly to the libernj. character or Its manage
ment, which Is in the hands of the three commercial associations of the city. There being no stockholding Interest, all its
revenues are dij-ectlv expended In increasing it popular attractions, while the high chwacter and Impartiality of its awards
hns. made them taierly sought after by exhibitor from every part of tfctt Vuion. The national character of the Exposition is
indicated bv rlie half-fnre arrangements which, last. year extended over 15,000 milts-of railway, or nearly one-thirdjthe entire mile
age of the United States; and by the attendance of o ver sooo visitors- A large increase is oxpected this year, under the newly
adopted system of scbtaoL excursions at reduced rate of admission. ' '
