Cattle trade last week was the most remarkable here, or at any other mar jket in the world. .More than 76,000 cattle and 7,000 calves came in, the I greatest supply of cattle ever receiv ed here in a week ia August, yet prices made a net gala for the week. ;The enormous demand for thin cat Jtle from stockmen in Iowa, Missouri, Illinois and other states is the foun dation of the cattle market at this time. Of the 83,000 cattle and calves received last week, 43,687 head went to the country. Iowa led with 21,000, Missouri next 8,500, Illinois 7,700, Kan sas 3,200, Indiana 1,800, Ohio 700, bal ance to states scattered over a wide territory. This demand fcr thin cat. 'tie was so great that closing prices ivre equal to the close of the pre vious week. The reduced number .left for the killers was insufficient for their demands and prices on those grades made a main of 10 to 15 I cents for the week.. The run today J is 32,000 head, market steady to 13 j lower on killing grades, including Kansas grass cattle, steady on stock cattle and feeders. Prime fed cattle are now quotable above $9.00, and predictions favor an- advance of 50 to 75 cents during September. Kansas grass steers range from $6.50 to $7.90 to killers, and quarantine steers form $5.00 to $6.90 today. Run of quaran tines today is 161 cars. Stockmen in the dry sections are sending their cat tie to localities where there is feed, and commission men believe there ; will not be any great number market ed from those sections the balance ' of the fall iThe result will be a run ,here during September and October below normal and stronng markets wi doubtless rule. Hogs declined 23 to 35 cents last week and there is a further less to day of 5 to 15 cents. Outside buy jers took 24 pehoent of the total sup ply nere last ween, ana iwai pn:o ruled above other river markets, and also above Chicago, all week as a re sult. Run today Is 6,000, top $8.55, bulk of sales $8.15 to $8.50. Order buyers took the good hogs today at $8.33 to $8.55. packers the balance at $8.15 to $8.40. Sheep and lambs made a good gain last week, as receipts were small and 'packers were short of supplies. Re jceipts today are 12,000 hear, market 15 to 25 lower, packers claiming prices last week were out of line. Some 67 pound Utah Jambs brought $7.50 today, Utah ewes $4.50, wethers. 117 pounds, $4.75, choice breeding! ewes $4.50. J. A. RICK ART, Market Correspondent. Dated September 2, A. D. 1913. CHARLIE HUMPHREY. Although it is claimed for the Ok lahoma Ranch Wild West that it is one of the most complete and inter esting expositions of real border life ever organized, there is an evident desire on the part of the management to give the public even more than its money's worth. This is evidenced by the addition of the thrilling triple somersault-turning automobile to the already long list of features announc ed for the big show. Aerial automo biles that turn a single somersault in mid-air have been more or less- fa miliarized by the circuses, but these who attend the performances of the Oklahoma Ranch Wild West show wiec it exhibits in Great Bend, Sat urday, September 13, wUl hare the novel and enlivening experience of seein ao auto polo match, in which racing machines are utilized instead of ponies. The act Is & sensational one, and according to preliminary re ports, has created a furore wherever the show has exhibited. This big act is evidently not allowed to interfere with the general magnitude or Wild West character of the show. The Mul balls, CoL Zack, Lucile and Georgle, famous riders, ropers and ranchers from Oklahoma; champions from the Pendleton Round -up and Calgary Stampede; scores of blanket Indians in pictuersque border dramas; snorts ! and pastimes of Cowboy Land, Mexi ' can. Life, rough riding by wild Cos . sacks, and many other features keep ithe interest at fever heat. The pa- rade that Inaugurates Wild West day is said to be novel to an unusual degree.
