Concealed Weai-ok!. The reprehensible
and unjustifiable practice of carrying concealed
wepaons is at last exciting the attention de
manded by the horrible consequences It leads to.
In St. Louis, three wseks ago, the Gity Council
passed an ordinance making it a misdemeanor
to carry any concealed weapon. Last week
the City Council of Washington, D. C, adopt
ed the following ordinance :
"It ehall not hereafter be lawful for any
nerson or nersona to earrv or have about their
persons any deadly or dangerous weapons, such
as dagger, pistol, bowie-knife, dirk-knife, or

to the provisions in the above ordinance, any
person arrested for violating any city ordinance
should, on beirg searched, as is usual before
being placed in the calaboose, beside the charge
of the misdemeanor for which he was arrested,
have a second charge of carrying concealed
weapons entered against him, if such weapons
found are on his person. Also a pro vision should
be made that all weapons so concealed should be
foreited and afterward destroyed by one of the
city officers designated for the purpose. The
seizure and destruction of weapons so forfeited
would probably be more effectual in repressing
the practice, than even the infliction of the
fine. Most persoas wouli hesitate before in
vesting in property so uncertain to retain and
unsafe to carry,
The above was written some days ago acd
has been kept back by press of matter. The,

Age ami Bebilitj.
As old age comes creeping on, it brines many
attendant inSrrailies. .Loss of appetite and
weakness impair the beaHh, aad want of ac
tivity makes the mind discontented and un
happy. In cases where old age adds its roflu
enee, it is almost impossible to add vigor asd
health, and atttteush many remedies have been
tried, all have faile.l, until Eoieiiave's Hol
land Bitters were known and used. In every
case where they have been employed, they
have invariably given strength and restored
the appetite. They have become a great agent
for this alone, and are used by many people
who are suuering from less of appetite and
general debility. In case of long standing
chronic diseases, they act as a charm, invigo
rating the system, thus giving nature another
opportunity to repair pnysical injuries.
