J Helena, Mont., . March 15.—The "United
States authorities And the officers of Cus
•Jor county have frustrated the most gi
gantic rustling schemes ever attempted in
this state. Major Edwards, agent of the
Crow Indians, recently discovered that a
large number of cattle belonging to the
Crows .had been" stolen. The authorities
■went quietly to work, end. have. captured
■Robert 1 Lee and, another ;.cowboy .impli
cated in the theft. The leader of the
Sang has escaped with others, and is now
being pursued. * '" -.••"'
Lee and his comrade will have a hear
ing before a United States commissioner
at Billings, March 19. The deputy mar
shals ; and stock detectives have recovered
more than 1.000 head of the stolen cattle,
haying a total value of $37,000. The
rustlers had ■changed the brands on -the
cattle, and had expected to run them out
of the state and ship them to Chicago in
