Paris, Jan. 5.A portion of the jfrench delegation to the Moroccan con ference Starts for Algeciras next Mon day, as it is now considered settled that the sessions will open Jan. 16. French official opinion considers the situation as materially improved. When the recent British ministerial change occurred, it/was the expectation in Ger many that the new liberal ministry Would abandon the former ministry's energetic support of the French posi tion regarding Morocco. It can be au thoritatively stated, however, that the new liberal ministry occupies exactly the same position as the former Lans downe ministry relative to supporting the French position, in Morocco. This, the French officials feel, removes on of Germany's'chief reliances in weak ening the cause of France. There re main. Italy and Spain, whose interests in Morocco are considerable, but France has reason to expect their co-operation with British influence. Britain with France. London, Jan. 5.Official and unoffi cial circles in Great Britain do not con sider the Franco-German situation as serious. It is true that the reports em- anatingJirom France had a slight effect on the stock market, but this was only temporary. If Germany's proposals regarding the protection of her trade do not inter fere with^a fair field for the trade-of all the countries, she is not likely to meet with any opposition from ''Great Britain. It is stated in trustworthy circles, however, that Germany may introduce a claim to piecing German soldiers in Morocco. This France is certain to resist, and under the agreement Great Britain must uphold her contention. While the officials here decline to comment on the cabled announcement that th,e United States stands uncom mitted on the question of policing the Moroccan frontier, some disappointment is expressed in other circles, because it had been expected that the United States would indorse the position of France on this point, which seems \to be the only one on which a disagree ment is probable.
