Shiras of Dubuque, Iowa, were hosts at a beauti ful luncheon Sunday at the Hotel Del Otero, given in honor of a group of Dubuque friends who were en route to Yellowstone park, and who spent the day at the lake. Covers were laid for twelve, and the table was exquisitely appointed in pink, the color shading from the faintest shell pink to the deepest coral. Luncheon was served from a large round table. The chan delier above it was wreathed with deli cately tinted oak leaves, and from the mass of foliage fell streamers of pink satin ribbon which were caught in flaunting bows on the table's edge. Sus pended from the chandelier was a Jap anese basket which almost touched the table, and from its depths rose daintily shaded hollyhock blossoms, the long stemmed plants reaching almost vto the network of foliage. The out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Van Duzee, Miss Van Duzee, Miss Booth and Mr. and Mrs. G. Grosvenor, all of Du buque, and Mrs. J. E. Hayser of Alton, 111. H. Freeman Cooper of St. Paul, was the honor guest at a birthday dinner given at Hotel Del Otero Sunday eve ning, at which the guests were Misses Emily and Louise Whitney, Elizabeth Morgan, Myrtle Stebbins, Miss Rich of Red Wing, Miss Susan Farwell of Ver mont Messrs George Whitney, Harry F. The table was appointed in pink with a huge birthday cake set in a mound of pink blossoms, and encircled by twenty-six pink and white tapers. Last evening a dancing party was given in the pavilion for the guests of the hotel. Society will be well represented at the races of the Minnetonka and thespend White Bear boat clubs, which are sched uled for tomorrow afternoon at 3 'clock. The race will be over the tri angular course in the big lake, and a great many boating parties are ar ranged among the younger people to go to the north end of Big Island, which offers a splendid view for the races. In the late afternoon and evening So ciety will congregate at Tonka Bay, where the clubhouse members have their home, an"d where the White Bear tars will be entertained during the evening. She wore a veil of tulle and her flowers were bride rqses. Miss Matry Carroll, her cousin, was maid' of honor. She wore pink dimity, trimmed with lace, and she held a cluster of pink carnations. Mr. Burns of St. Paul/was. his brother's best man. Rev. J. Fowler read the service and Mrs. Flynn furnished the nuptial music. A cluster of the sweet peas was in the center of the able and pink and white satin ribbons, caught at the chandelier above, fell to the table's edge. A clus ter of the flowers tied with white tulle designated the place of the bride. During the afternoon a doily already buttonholed, was given to each of the eighteen guests with a pencil, thimble and embroidery linen each drew a monogram or wrote Jkwr name on the doily and embroidered it for the bride. A nuptial guessing contest served to amuse the guests. Mrs. George Shannan will entertain at dinner tomorrow evening for Miss Fleu. Mr. and Mrs. Will Green of Omaha, who are visiting in* the city, yesterday entertained a party of twenty at Lake Phalen. Among the guests were Misses Lillian Bfin of Omaha, Rose Stone of Chicago, and Geraldine Brin of Chicago. Dinner was served in the refectory at the lake. Minikahda club will be the scene of a great many delightful affairs this week in connection with the state golf tournament. One of the smartest affairs will be the concert which will be given from 5:30 to 8 o'clock Thursday evening at the club by the famous Duss and his band of artists. The band has been playing at Wonderland for the last week and the club members are con sidering themselves fortunate to have a treat of such promise at their country home. The out-of-town golf players have commenced to come, and the links are used for practice games at all times of the day. Beginning tomor row afternoon a group of society women will be hostesses at tea from 4 to 5 'clock, and a bevy of the younger girls will assist. Miss Minnie Clint entertained at luncheon yesterday at Donaldson's tea rooms, and her guests were Misses Flor ence Tanner, Estelle Bissell and Effie Johnson of Cannon Falls, and Villa Clint of Minneapolis. Friday evening the girls attended a theater party, Minneapolis society was well repre sented during the day at the women's state tennis tournament, which is on at the Town and Country club. The fact that some of the Minneapolis play ers have been defeated does not put a damper on their enthusiasm, and the tennis coterie shows no partiality what ever, enjoying the sport for the sport's sake. Miss Partridge and Miss Jordan and Miss Dean were defeated yester day. This afternoon Mrs. James F. Bell and Miss Jordan are playing in the pre liminary doubles. The social side of the tournament is strongly accentuated by the St. Paul women. Yesterday Mrs. Harold P. Ben of St. Paul was hostess and the Misses Edith Wann, Eleanor Wann, Nancy Judson and Dorothea Barrow assisted her. There will be hostesses for Thursday, Friday and Sat urday afternoons. Mmes.
