At the morning session few shares of Star changed hands, the first sale being 200 shares at 26 cents, and the second 300 at 26 cents. The afternoon Bcssion witnessed more activity, and 2S00 shares were sold at 25 cents. The only slump occurred late In the session when fifty shares at 22 cents were re corded. Just before the close-down for the winter a fourteen-foot lode was tapped at a vertical depth of about seventy-five feet, where average values of $10 per ton rewarded the projectors of the 280 foot tunnel that disclosed the ore. No cessation of development work is allowed at the Carbonate group owned by Harry Mills and G. F. Dalton, the discoverer of the rich strike in the Wedge. They expect to follow up a large vein of gold ore, from which they have taken $40 rock at the surface. A force of miners Is comfortably housed at the Jumbo on the Deer Creek extreme of Gold Mountain district, where a tunnel is being driven for the ledge upon which the eight claims of the group are located. Free gold pan nlngs and good assays are the stimulus which has served to keep' work going throughout past seasons and to justify the hardships 'and Increased ex pense of a continuous winter campaign. Lem Calloway has been awarded the contract for an extension of the 160 foot tunnel in the Maeday, out of Mnrysvale, pre-eminently a copper proposition.
