WHOOPING COUGH IS RAGING IN SALT LAKE An epidemic of whooping cough Is rag ing among tho children of Salt Lake, and a number of adults arc said to havo been included In the list of victims of the con tagion. Numerous cases havo been re ported to tho. Health department within the past week. At the home of J. II. Raleigh, 324 North First West street, three- children are stricken with the disease. It Is said to havo been contracted! from association with other children who wc-ro affected, in other cases all the children In the family havo been stricken. Physicians doclara that tho disease Is widespread and has victims In every part of the city. Where a caac Is discovered the child Is at once prohibited from at tending school and tho home Is quaran tined. In the case of adults, however, few restrictions aro observed, and they arc not detained from their duties by the Health officials. "There are a great many cases In tho city," eald Dr. E. E. Wilcox yesterday. "It is the usual epidemic that takes pos session of a community every two or three years. I have a number of cases myself and other physicians have told me of numerous others. Except In tho case of very young children the disease Is rarely fatal. 1 havo heard of no fatali ties as yet." Baltimore Insurance Co. Fails.
