I ELI AMALGAMATED

Ore Bodies Will Be Prospected
at Great Depth From
MURDOGK SATISFIED
WITH INSPECTION
Formation Said to Be'-' Very
Similar to That of Tin-
As a result of tho visit of Joseph
R. Murdock. tho Ileber City hanker,
in tho Ely district,' it has boeu dooidod
to prosecute activo development work
I on tho property of tho Ely Amalfra
( runted company, Mr. Murdock is pros-
ident of the company, in which a niim-
ber of local peoplo aro interested, and
I after inspoctinc tho company's hold-
mps, it was decided to inaugurato a
j rnmpaicn of practical and systematic
development on tho two ore shoots al
i ready opened on tho claims.
I One of the shoots is that exposed
by eroding for tho pipo lino to the
smelter at McGill. which has been
htripped for a length of about thirty
feet and ten to fifteen foet in width.
Tho work has oponed up a bit: body of
high-grsdo lead that can bo mined
cheaply and which will pay handsome
ly when shipped to tho smelter. This
ore is now being extracted and tho
j fchoot will bo sunk on to prove up the
3 depth nnd dip, and a shaft will bo con
I tinned down, following the ore.
Some Oro Shipped,
j The other shoot is a continuation of
the original shoot, from which 100 tons
I of 71 per cent lead ore was shipped
3 some 3'oars ago. This is about 100 toot
Bouth of tho shaft from which that
ore was extracted, proving the shoot for
that length at least, but which is prob
ably much longer, as shallow prospect
ing shows tho ledge and high-grndo
float from it at a still greater distance
from tho old shaft. Tho ore occurs hero
on both sides of a soft streak eight to
ten inches wide which will facilitate
s.oking. Tho shaft will follow tho oro
I to prove tho true dip of tho ledge.
i Those two shoots are on parallel lodges
! and if tho work in tho shaft shows that
I the lodges will como together within
I a short distance, a straight shaft will
bo sunk between them to work both.
Hj Similar to Tintic.
If Mining men fnmiliar with tho great
lead-silver mines of Tintic havo pro
nounced the formation in which tho ore
is found on tho Elj Amalgamated as
! identical, and expressed the opinion
that development will make tho mines
I as great as some of the best in tho Utnh
district, from which millions in divi
deads havo been paid.
Tho Steptoo valley Smelting and
Mining company has agreed to furnish
water from tho pipo lino which crosses
tho Amalgamated group for all mining
purposes and the uso of all company
employes living on tho property. As
tho work progresses moro men will bo
put on nnd development of tho prop
cry will continue stcadil' in an effort
to mako the mines rogulnr producers
and shippers.

SATISFIED WITH
NEVADA DOUGLAS
Manager Orem Pleased With
Railroad Progress, as
Well as Mine.
Manager W. C. Orem of the Nevada
Douglas company was scheduled to ar
rive homo last ovening from Nevada,
whore ho ha been on an extended visit
of inspection at tho mi no and along
tho routo of the new Wabuska-Yering-ton
railroad. Concerning rocont devel
opments in tho projects in which ho is
intorested, Mr. Orom whilo, in Verin g
ton, is quoted as saying:
"Tho railroad grade, js completed for
a distance of ten and a half miles and
tho ongino is now hauling ties and rails
ovor five miles of track. Tho Yering
ton should be completed before tho first
da- of Decomber. My oao ambition is
to see the railroad completed to tho
mouth of tho Nevada-Douglas shaft.
Our company can then commence to fill
our orders for gypsum; moreover, wo
will then' be ablo to demonstrate what
wo havo for t-o long a time claimod,
that the Novada-Douglas is a whale
of a mine. I havo traveled up and
down tho proposed routo from here to
tho Nevada-Douglas and I can seo no
roason why tho balance of tho road can
not bo completed as rapidly as tho por
tion from NVnbuska to Yorington and
Mason.
Has Big Deposits.
Tho Novadfi -Douglas for two yoara
mado regular shipments of high-gTade
copper oro lo Chicago. It was used
pnncipnllj' in tho manufacturo of chonp
jewelry and adornmonts for homo fit
tings, such as lamp stands, paper
weights, etc. Tho freight charges
alono on theso shipments would pay
a nice dividend. Tho amount of tin
high grado nbovo tho -100-foot lovol is
almost incalcuablc, and below that level
groat deposits of copper glanco havo
como in. It is possible the compnn',
as soon as tho railroad is completed,
will mako shipments of high-grade, but
until tho smelter is finished it would
ha nil- bo doing tho property justice
to aggressively work- tho mine and per
mit tho railroads to derive tho chief
benefit.
Oro Shipments.
Ore shipments reported Wednesday by
the local samplers follow: Tfcylor-Brun-ton,

EASTERN PRINCE WILL
BE ILL DEVELOPED
Local Mining Men Plan to Start
Work in Piocbe Next
Month.
According to A. E. Bovoridge, one of
the local interests in the controlling
company, the work of development of the
Eastorn Prince raining property, in the
Pioche district, will b started oa the
first of the month on a larger scale
than has ever been attempted at this
mine in thoTpBsL A 300-foot fthaftYs
to bo sunk, sccordintr to Mr. Bevcridco;
a completely equipnl hoisting plant is
to be installed, and necessary shops
will be erected on tho surface, in order
that work may be proMtou rapidly
Rnu systematically.
Tho holdings of tha Eastern Princo
romps ay consist of seven and n fraction
claims, located originally by Richard
f'hppe. formerly snporintendont of the
Prince Con. mine, and it is the opinion
of Mr. Bevoridge and others who hnvo
studiod the proposition that the rich
beddwl planes of the Prince ground
project into Eastern Prince territory.
Work so far done on tho Eastorn Prince
consists of shallow shafts, and tho
shou-ings made as a result of these
operations havo led those interested
into tho belief that with docpor work
ings big oro bodies will be uncovered.
A manganese capping extends over
tho company's claims, and this has
been proven up for a depth of thirty
foot. The ground is crossed by two
woll defined Assures, such as hnvo been
domonstrntod to feed tho rich bedded
pianos in tho properties where moro ex
tensive dovolopmont has been ac
complished. Tho contact is between
tho limo nnd shalo formations, charac
teristic of the district.
Oro at Depth.
In fho opinion of Mr. Bovoridge, tho
rich oro channels which havo proven
such n source of rovonuo in tho Prince
Con. will bo encountered in I ho East
Princo property at a. depth of from 300
to -100 feet, and it is with theso do
posits as an objective point that work
will bo prosecuted.
Murray C. Godbe, whoso long ex
porienco in tho mines of the Piocho din
trict has given him a first-hnnd knowl
edgo of the minoral possibilities of thnt
section, is interested in tho company,
as aro O. V. Powers and Judge
Marionenux.
It is stated that tho company has
bcoon finnncod in a manner which will
mako possible tho completion of tho
work now planned, nnd Mr. Boveridgo
will lcavo on or about the 1st of the
month to get oporations under way.
