LATEST THEORY OF CATARRH
EXPLAINED BY DR. HARTMAN.

Catarrh bi'giny by eongestiou of the
blood vessola of a niiicoiis nicnibrane.
Auv mucous uioiubrano is made up
mostly of niinulij blood vessels, called
capillaries. Cold or irritation of any
eort is liable to produce eongostioa of

slight and i3 quickly romoved the '.-on-gestion
vcrv soon disappears and no
bad result obtains. Bui. if tho irrita
tion is ropeatcd many times or is long
continued a chronic 'condition of con
gestion of the mucous membranes may
occur. This is ordinarily called ca

freely in the small blood vessclu that
compose tho mucous membrain. The
blood becomes dammed up iu the ves

and the blood lo stagnate and the
serum of the blood to exude from
tho walls of tho blood vessels, produc
