A life were strangely . mingled on
Friday when the greatest actress of
the age stood for more than an hour
helling the Salt Lake papers to the
m Salt Lake public for tho benefit of
Bj the sufferers in tho middle west. It
Hu was a marvel to the spectators, who
HBa watched tho scene throughout tho whole
HM time, to sco a woman, who is supposed
iBBB"-1 .to bo in the class known ns aged,
givo evidence of such vitality, such
energy and 6uch graciousncss all at
onco in handling the very difficult
situation. It was not alono that she
6old the papers actually, but that she.
extended to the buyers a cordial greet
ing and gave a glimpse of a personality
' which has gone fnT in accounting for
her wonderful success all through her
I life. Some of tho pathetic incidents
which came to the notice of the do
I voted women who worked for the sue-

town to purchaso papers, recalls tho

A DELIGHTFUL dinner at Fort

which Captain and Mrs. George II.

their quarters. Bright yellow jon
quils were used for decorations, and
candles shaded in tho same color light
ed tho table. The guests were Colonel
and Mrs. James A. Irons, Captain and
M3. John Do Witt, Captain Morton
F. Smight and Dr. Walson. A few
games of bridgo followed tho dinner.
