middle-aged man In the audience, who
was fumbling; a rolled-up .handkerchief
In his hand and persistently snlthlng and
pulling his -nose during the delivery of a
speech, was forcibly ejected from the as

and "Choke the lobster" interrupted the
proceedings, and finally resulted In a
grand rush for the nose-puller by some of
the enraged hearers. He was grabbed
bv the 'coat collar and unceremoniously
and swiftly moved toward the door.
When the man first sat down and be
pan loudly tearing out, a throat-hawk,
the audience shifted nervously. After
continuing the draw-rattle of his catarrh
through one of the most stlrrlnsr parts
of the speech, the audience gave vent to
its feelings. He was roughly handled on
the way out and sustained -several
bruises lie was taken to the county
hospital.
It Is such occurrences as these which
make the catarrh victim one of the de

his disease. If this man had simply

To The Washington Herald:
Catarrh Kills
Thinking Power
Gradual Cloudlnar of the Brain and
Issa of Memory Inevitable
Result of Catarrh.
Catarrh anywhere in the head or throat
or ear Is right next to the brain The
catarrh germ grows fast, does an enor
mous amount of damage In its burrow
Ings Into bone and flesh and Is difficult
to destroy. There are thousands of lit
tle nerves that run from all parts of the
face and head to the brain Some of
these little nerves have to pass through
probably a mass of catarrhal Inflamma
tions on the road to the brain. "When
they do they are weakened and some
times destroyed."
What affects the nerves Is bound to
affect the brain, and when the nerves
are deadened by constant catarrhal dis
charges there Is bound to be a certain
torpor or stupidity brought about In the
brain of the victim. Thus follows sleep
irssness, lnabiUtyto think clearly or to
connect Ideas, loss of memory, lack of
concentration, lack of presence of mind
and a wandering of thought.
If any man or woman imagines that
these things do not affect their earning
capacity, their cheerfulness, and the es
teem which their friends have for tbelr
brlghtness, they have little realization of
the necessity of keeping the mind al
ways clear. That la all there is to life.
When it takes such a comparatively
short time to cure this terrible disease
by the Gauss common-sense treatment,
and regain the flash and brilliancy of
the normal brain, there Is no good rea
son why one should not spend the two
or three -mtnutes It takes to cut out the

EMINENT DOCTOR
SATS BLINDNESS
DUE TO CATARRH
(Associated Press Dispatch)
London. Aug. . Dr. H. Manning Fish,
of Jollet. 111., declared at the medical
congress that most of the blindness In
the world Is the result of catarrh In the
upper nasal cavities or the bony cells
composing the roof of the nostrils.
in. Fish described his experience In
thirty-six cases, cov erlng a period of sev
eral years, claming that In each of these
immediate Improvement of the vision
followed the effective treatment of the
diseased nasal cavities, and advised that
in cases of loss of vision following grip
measles, scarlet fever and kindred ail
ments relief be sought through treatment
of the noses of the patients
CatarrhIs1 caused by a germ which
must be destroyed before th jitan-h -it
self can be cured. If not cured, blind
ness may result. An extended hlatorr
of the many extraordinary cures effect
ed by the Gauss treatment will probably
be brought to the attention of the next
International meeting of the medical con
gress. Readers
Some Results of Catarrh
Even Slight Ca.ea of Catarrh Haval
Terrible Consequences.
Every ease of catarrh, of course. Is
not fatal. Nor does every case result In
consumption or bronchitis, but neverthe
less they are very frequent. No man or
woman knows what his or her case of
catarrh will lead to. Men of robust
htalth have succumbed to resulting con
sumption and partial Idiocy. Women of
strong vitality have become nervous
wrecks and victims of bronchitis Tour
good health Is not alwavs a preventive
against the catarrh germs.
The more you feel sure there Is no
danger of the catarrh resulting In a. dis
ease more serious the more danger there
Is simply because ou will neglect your
self. This happens In hundreds of cases
and we see It recorded almost dally In
the letters we receive "If I had only
started the cure earlier," Is a very fre
quent expression, showing that our warn
ing Is not fanciful, but based on fearful
realltyr
Even slight cases of catarrh may re
sult in nose cancer, than which there is
hardly a more pitiful affliction In this
world
Catarrh Fatally Frequent.
Some of the frequent results of catarrh
are bronchitis, pneumonia, death and de
cay of bones, loss of thinking and rea
soning power, death of ambition and en
ergy, loss of appetite. Indigestion, dys
pepsia, ulceration, bad breath, raw1
throat, raw sores In the nose, general
debility, and sometimes Idiocy and Insan
ity This is why in the death lit you do
not find a mention of fatal catarrh; the
death is caused, not directly by the ca
tarrh lttelf, but by a disease which was
caused by catarrh. Medical books and
cjclopedlas will tell you even more ser
ious news than we tell lou here: prob
ably after reading them you will have a.
run realization of what It Is to have ca
tarrh a. common disease. It is true, but
with a common result ilser for years.

THOUGHT WIFE A CONSUMPTIVE.
Tour catarrh medicine Is a wonderful
medicine. My wife hsd it so bad every
ane thought she had consumption. She
ased to cough at night, and could not
ileep at all. One doctor gave her up.
He said she would not get cured if she
itayed here. I have tried all kinds of
medicines and found them no good, till
I tried yours, and It acted right away.
I recommended It to all my friends. Ton
may mention my name if you please, and
they can write to me and I will let them
know how bad my wife was with catarrh.
But she Is a well woman once more. W.

A Glimpse of the Death Roll.
Catarrh In Many Cases la the
Real
Death Dealer.
Died of consumption, aged thirty-two.
Died of acute bronchitis, aged sixty
Died of pneumonia, aged twent-six.
Died of cancer, aged fifty-one
And so on down the list Do ou find a
mention of cata-Th" No, because catarrh
a rule, does not directly cause many
deaths But catarrh is indirectly the
cause, of man deaths. "Died of pneu
monia should better be "died of pneu
monia, caused by catarrh." The 'caused
by catarrh" Is left off what's the use
He's dead anyway. And so catarrh Is
looked upon as a disease of slight conse
