Trtl Healy. the specialty artist with Jean Bedinl's -CuddU Up" ot the Gayety this week, is one of the few blackface stars wji'o will appear In burlesque this season. This Is. by the way. Healy's first appearance in the burlesque field and he holds only a short term contract with Mr. ItedinL Healy has hertofore. amused vaudeville patrons, with "his songs an'd stories, in a fashion that borders the mannerism used by A1 Jolson. Eddie Cantor and A1 Herman. Ted. however, has a way of his own and patrons of the Ninth street burlesque house are taking to his offering. \ He returned but a short time ago from a tour of English music halls, where his offerings met with great success. He is merely a young fellow and has only been in the theatricajjbuslness three years, working most of the time in a white-face makeup. Healy arrived In Washington Sunday morning and appeared in the matinee performance of "Cud- j die Up," and the applause accord- 1 ed him held up the show on Sunda> afternoon and has done likewise during every single performance, thin week. He posseiises a com- j manding personality, a fine voice and an abundance of pep that marks him as one of the few blackface artists of today who will eventually reach stardom. Healy does not play parts In the show, doing only his twenty minute specialty, and he Is, indeed, one of the brightest lights of the entire show. The William Brothers, a duo of peppy and a'glle "steppers'* have also been engaged as a specialty team AMUSEMENTS.
