Prospectus of the " Southern Seutinel," A Democratic and MUcellaneont Journal, to be Pub lished Weekly, at WiUon, K C. THE EXISTING CONDITION OF POLITICAL PAR TIES, and of partizan strife, natnally suggests thee tablishing of such a journal as the " Sogtubkx Skstikei," purposes to become. The present, indeed, is a crisis in our political history, neter witnessed before. The Constitution has been invaded ; the laws trampled and spat upon ; religi ous liberty assailed ; ballot boxes broken and burnt ; the landmark's of our political ancestry partially effaced ; the wisdom derived from a time-honored experience uuseated; atmnire and Questionable men have been tuhed into high nositions: and fanaticism, unchained from its axe aud its fagjriit piles in the North, is heard to howl among us in the South. These evils, so far as its humble abilities shall serve THE SOUTHERN SENTINEL will endeavor to arrest. It will endeavor to inculcate a reverence for the laws as thev exist, and for the Constitu tion, as it has been interpreted by the wist men of the past and bv the Fathers of the Democratic faith. It will defend not onlv political, but religious liberty, und will do battle against every political heresy that may apjtear, whether hatched in caves or culverts, or open convention. The Sestisel will also, to relieve the monotony of poli tics, devote space to literary topics, original aud selected, as well as to miscellaneous subjects, which shall include Agricultural and the latest Commercial intelligence. In brief, no efforts nor exoenscs will be spared to make the Sentinel one of the most useful and efficient journals in the South. The first number of the Sentinel will be issued nbuut the first of the next month, und sent to subscribers at the rate of $2 per annum : ii o at the end of six months, and $3 at the end of the year.
