THE UNDERSIGNED WILL COMMENCE, ON or about tbe 16tb day of January next, the publica tion of a Daily and Weekly Paper bearing the above title in the town of Fayetteville, N.C. .- Tbe Courier will be Democratic in tone and sentiment. and will seek: st sll times, snd npon all occasions, to guard- vigilantly the interests ot tne Bourn. . - r .. It ia a difficult task at any time to understand clearly the drift of events, especially when a great crisis is approach ing. - For some time past we bare been familiarizing our selves with tbe idea that at a day not far distant we shall bave to battle for our interests. . Recent events have shown that our opinions were correct, and that we were compelled to defend ourselves from Lbe.inra.icr. - It cannot be denied, although it is relished by no one in this section, that the breach between the North and the South is daily becoming wider. Our duty then, as men true to our interests, is to gird np ourselves for the contest, and lie piepared for all eventualities. That it is the duty of every one to do what-, ever lies in his power lo avert this awful disaster, is cheer fully recognized bv all classes. - . In oonductincf the Courier, whatever energy or talent I msy possess, will be directed, towards the perpetuity of the Union and equality of tbe States, and in maintaining those political principles which have been tested and proven to be the only mode by which tbe affairs of our country. can be properly managed. Although the particular tenets of the Democratic party will be argued, I will concede to political opponents the prerogative which I claim for myself, and will endeuror to do my duty without giving offence to any one. Tbe Courier, although a political paper, will sot be so far misled. by politics as to neglect those things which should claim tbe attention of a public journal. I will en deavor to give the latest Telegraphic and other news, mar ket reports, Ac, and to keep my readers advised of every thing of interest which transpires from time to time The Daily paper will be printed every morning, (Sundays excepted) on new and handsome typ, and will contain t wenty-fonr columns of reading matter. Price per annum $1 in advance. . The Weekly Paper will be issued every Saturday morn ing at (2 per annum in advance. Advertisements will be inserted upon reasonable terms. ARCH'D. T. BANKS. December 20, 1S."9. , . - 103 v PROSPECTUS or TTX3B st. a it er r'aE-BPear, BELIEVING THE PERIOD HAS ARRIVED IN the history of onr great nation, when every freeman should shake off tbe fetters and tenets of sectarian bias, and in the face of policy and popular opinion think, speak; act, and declaim without fear or reward, bis principles up on any and every subject not inimical to tbe interests of the country. And believing furthermore, that tbe en croachments of iniquity, hyp. crisy, heresy, infidelity, su perstition, hnmbuggery, priestcraft, with all tbeir isms and unpatriotic devotion to tne fundamental principles of our government, are fearfully on tbe increase, therefore, strong efforts should be put forth by tbe conservative portion of our country to uproot them, and return to the primitive landmarks of our fathers. We should have an honest Dem ocratic Government and honest devotion to tbe church of God that sectarian jealousies may be ignored, sociality restored, and tbe interest of one section be made the in terests of all so that, prosperity msy spring np in the midst of adrersity. To this end, tbe undersigned proposes to publish in the town of Wilson, N.
