The. "Farmers- Store of Bloomer, Wisconsin.
Perhaps the most successful store of its kind in the country.
It is a joint stock concern owned, by 1,000 farmers living about
?loomer. It is not co-operative, in the true sense of the word, as it
pays dividends only on stock and limits the margin of profit instead
of paying all profit back to purchasers as do the truly co-operative
stores. This store has been running twenty years. Last year it did
a business of over $500,000.
There was a time when . one
American society saved its .mem
bers some $12,000,-000 ayear by
co-op erafive buying.
. This society had state agen
cies throughout the union. It had
thousands of locals. It had near
ly a" million members. ,
