TONY MAGGIORE "FOUND"
BY HIMSELF
Antonio Maggiore, Jr.,- 13
years old, 1006 Milton ave., who
disappeared from his hqme ten
days ago, and who, according to
local papers, had at different
times been kidnaped, held for
ransom, killed, and thrown into
the Chicago river, walked smil
ingly into the Chicago avenue po
lice station today. With him
were two relatives,
The circumstances apparently
exploded these four sensational
theories.
Antonio himself said he had
not been kidnaped.
His relatives werev smiling
broadly. They didn't look like
people who had "given up" any
money.
Antonio told of his adventures.
He was a "live one." TheVefdre,
he hadn't been killed.
And his clothes weren't a bit
wet. So he couldn't have been at
the bottom of the river.
Antonio's story wa$ very com
monplace, and similar td that of
thousands of other boys. He said
he stole some money from his
father. He became afraid and
ran away. And then (Shades of
Sherlock Holmes!) he said he had
been selling papers in the loop
district. He was just "fooling
around," and came home when
he got ready.
Antonio must have been very
interested when the "Merikin"
said .his body was thought to be
in the river.
And probably if Antonio had
stood on the. corner and called,
"Extra! Extra! AU about hiw I
am kidnaped and held for ran
som," probably some of the bright
Examiner sleuths who "discov
ered" Violet Beuhler would have
"found" Antonio for the first
page.
In view of all this, it would not
be astonishing to learn that his
poisoned brother Michael, whose
demise is now being investigated,
had died of stomacheache.
