. THE NINE LIVES OF KITTY KAT
Verses and Drawings by Frederick White.
v
VII. HE STARVES TO DEATH, But Has Two More Lives.
1
The merry little cat, of course
With only three lives more
Was much disturbed- it seemed
to me,
And very wisely tried to be
More careful than before.
He eVen grew particular
About his food and drink.
And everything:was sterilized
And boiled and anti-sep-ti-
cized
Quite needlessly, I think,
But strange to say he grew so
thin,
For all his watchful care,
And failed so very fat, that I
Was forced once more to say
Good-bye
It didn't seem quite fair.

"I bet I starved myself to death,"
He said and it was true.
"But, anyhow, I wont repine,
There's two lives coming yet for
MINE,
And that's one more than
you
-JZLftLc:
But strange to say, he grew so thin.
