said Mickelson, "or I'll call the

said bare knees. "But it's no.
"What's your name?" demand
"Donaid McDonald." .
"All right, Donald, me boy.

Donald followed Mickelson in
to the recruiting office. He stuck
one end of his awful looking in

shoulder, he blew into a skin bag,
and then he let loose regardless.
Michelson danced about the

McCANN TO JOIN OTHERS
Following closely the news
that several police officials re
cently discharged will seek rein
statement, James Hamilton Lew
is, attorney for former Inspector
Edward McCann, who served a
term in Joliet penitentiary for
bribery, and who was later par
doned by Gov. Deneen, today no
tified the civil service commis
sion that McCann will start suit
Monday for reinstatement.
It is intimated that if the form
er inspector is reinstated he will
immediately resign, but will put
himself in line for a pension.
That there was any connection
between the petition of McCann
and those of former Inspector
Wheeler and his four discharged
aides, Capt. P. J. Harding, and
Lieuts. Keleher, Enright and
Prim, was denied by attorneys
The petitions of the recently
discharged men allege testimony
was admitted by the commission
on counts that were not included
in the notification to the defend
ants, that specific charges were
refused them, and that the evi
dence was misapprehended by
the merit board.
McCann was indicted and con
victed in 1909 for soliciting and
receiving bribes from West Side
resort keepers, and sentenced to
from one to five years in prison.
He was pardoned Maj 5, 1911.
