-Twenty thousand dollars worth of ppium, morphine, cocaine
ami opium-smoking outfits were stacked together in a huge bonfire,
and burned in San Francisco recently.
The, heap comprised opium pipes, bowls, trays, .picks, scrapers
scissors scales, lamps ard hoptoys that have been gathered from
San Francisco, 5acramento, .Stockton, Oakland, San Jose and
Fresno since' July 1, 1911. Everything that pertained to opium
smoking orthe drug habit was piled into the heap. It was the fruit
of l,500rartrests and aggregate fines of $15,000, resulting from 1,000
convictions. i
