JUDGE HANFORD RESIGNS.
Seattle, Wash., July 22. In the
face of damaging disclosures in
him, Federal Judge Cornelius
Hanford today telegraphed his
resignation to President Taft.

'SKINNY" MADDEN DEAD.

today in a little cottage near Lake

POLICE PICK ON WEAK
New Bedford, Mass., July 22.
A mother carrying a day old babe
in her arms, was arrested on the
charge of assaulting an officer

waiting patrol wagon, and they
were locked up in a cell at police
Later the woman's husband
also was arrested, and charged
with disorderly conduct.
The husband is a striking mail
operative. He and his wife had
thrown the gate of their yard
