DANCER MAKES HER CLOTHESUSES NO PATTERNS
Princess Rajah.
Did vou ever pattern a dress
without a measure, or fit a joist
without a rule with "any sort of
accurate success ? ' .,
But the Princess Rajah, the
Cleopatra dancer, does. She does
everything for herself. And won
derful a"s it may seemj she does
not use a pattern for her cos
tumes This is the way slie de
scribes her method of fashioning
a gown:
"I sit on the floor, hold the
cloth in my fingers and measure
with my eye Then I cut and it
comes always right. I do not put
paper on it like American women,
and I do not stick any pins "
- "But the most remarkable fact
about the Princess Rajah is that
she carries this same disdain of
patterns and pins into her dances,
and improves from one 'act to the
next, so that she dances in no two
of them alike.
