PENROSE TO EXPLAIN,
v Washington, Aug. 20. Sena
tor Boies Penrose of Pennsyl
vania is going to explain why he
accepted $25,000 from John D.
Archbold of Standard Oil during
the campaign of 1904 in the Sen
ate tomorrow.
The Pennsylvania ex-boss re
fused to discuss the matter in any
way today.
"I'm going to fire my shot to
mqrrow in the Senate," he told a
United Press correspondent. "In
the meantime, I'm saying noth
mg. Penrose then 'rose and an
nounc to the Senate that he
would rise to a question of per
sonal privilege after the reading
of the Journal tomorrow.

NOW FOR SOME SCANDAL
Milwaukee, Wis., Aug. 20.
.The family skeleton of Arthur G.
(White, millionaire, of New York,
lAsbury Park, N. J., ahd this city,
5s rattling around trying to break
jout of the cupboard.
White's divorced wife,-Catherine
N. White, filed a $100,000
alienation suit against White's
jmother, aunt and brother-in-law.
White moved that certain of
the grounds in the suit be ex
punged from the records on the
ground they are "irrevelant and
scandalous."
Mrs. White has secured an or
der citing White before Judge"
Halsey'to show cause why these
grounds should be expunged.
So the whole business will be
dragged out in court. The
ground are said to be certain de
moralizing scraps in the family
history.
PRITCHARD A THIEF?
London, Aug. 20. Manager
Thomas Pritchard, of the "Ring,"
the most popular pugilist arena in
England, was today charged by
the police with the theft of a trav
eling bag from the Kaiser's sis-"
er, Princess Frederick Charles
of Hesse.
The bag disappeared while the
princess was saying goodhye to
English royalties at Victoria sta
tion Aug. 10. It is said that
valuable jewsl were in the bag.
Pritchard is known to sport
ing men all over the world. He
is a close friend of "Dickie"
Burge, owner of the "Ring."

An Early Indication.

genial philosopher.
