RICH WOMAN MAKES AND WEARS TWO DOLLAR GOWN

This gown is made in one piece,
of blue, brocaded raw silk and
- only cost $2, according to Mrs.
Ninan Wilcox Putnam, wife of
th'e rich publisher of ;New York,
who "made it and wears it.
"The cfirse of civilization is the

nam, "and the adoption of the
simple, cheap and beautiful gar-
ment will give women a freedom
that they have not had since wo

To demonstrate how simple it
is to make such a gown as seen,
she takes a piece of cloth 52 inches
wide, just double the length from
the neck to th instep, sews up
the sides, makes a slip just large
enough for the head ,ahd'arms o
go through, hems up the bottom,
and the dress is finished and ready
to wear.
As it meets, with all the re
