Lieut. Burns is an old friend of
the Chicago police department.
This man's name is J. S. Mor-i
gan, alias Rogers,, alias John. Har
ris, alias Frank Clarke, alias Chi
cago Slim, and lie is one of the
best-known crooks in the country.
Morgan actually was arrested
by Detective Thomas McFarlane
October 9, 1911, two weeks after
the robbery of the Bank of Mon-.
treal.
Morgan was taken down to the
detective bureau at that time and
held for a few days. Then the
bureau placed a charge of disor
derly conduct against him. This
charge was dismissed in court.
It really looks like some of
those bold Chicago detectives
who have been giving Burns the
loud ha-ha during the last few
days had better have a little
laugh on themselves by way of a
change.
The other man with Morgan
was Frank West, who is an
equally well-known crook... They
say he has been in Chicago for
quite a little time.
Both Morgan and West are.
mighty liable to get themselves
