WAYMAN AND THE VICE CRUSADE
State's Attorney Wayman is being criticized, of course; and
there is reason for criticism. He has made mighty little good use
of his office to help make Chicago and Cook county a better place
for people to live in.
But after all, Wayman is human. He is the victim of circum
stances, merely a manifestation of a vicious political system.
If Wayman were a big man, an unusual man, a great man
fchy then Wayman could rise above his political creators, and use
je great power of his office for the betterment of conditions.
But politicians big enough to do that are scarce.
