identified yet, but it is believed to
be that of Dr. Ely.

saloons early Tuesday evening,
and that in several of tiem he
showed a big roll of money.
That is all the police have dis
covered. But they are working

The verdict in the trial of nine of
the 52 timber workers charged
with the murder of three of their
comrades killed in the Grabow
riot is expected tonight.
The prosecution charged that
the nine, all of whom are leaders
in the timber workers1 union, in
cited their fellows to bloodshed.
The defense put on witnesses
showing that the first shots fired
in the riots had come from the
windows of the office of the lum
The defense tried to have all
the 52 defendants tried at once.
The prosecution objected, and
the court ruled that A. L. Emer
son, president of the timber work
ers, and eight other leaders
should go to trial first.
