THE, INTERESTING TALE OF THREE BIRDS OF A1
FEATHER WHO .FLOCKED TOGETHER
We know that birds of a feath
er flock together and so there is
peculiar interest in'-certain birds
who flocked together last night.
Those birds were Andy Law
rence, County Judge JotnJ E.
Owens and Maclay Hoyne, and
they flocked together at Schlogl's
Cafe, 37 North 5th avenue at the
hour of 7 o'clock.
They stayed at Schlogl's flock
ing together guite hard. Shortly
after '8 o'clock those birds flocked
out of Schlogl's, stilf together,,
and flocked' down to the Majestic
Theater still together.
Now while those birds were
flocking together at Schlogl's we
don't doubt for 'a moment that
they talked about the Balkan war,
or the price of a sewing machine
in 'darkest Africa, osr some simi
larly interesting affair.
But, of course, it is-possible
that they discussed.dther matters.
Anyhow, heTearesome highly in
teresting facts :
Maclay Hoyne was Andy Law-
rence's candidate for state's at
torney. The police election returns
showed that Maclay Hoyne had4
been elected over William A.
Cunnea by a very few thousand
The returns also showed that
Maclay Hoyne had garnered
those votes in certain wards, fam
ous or infamous for the difference
between the number of their reg
ular inhabitants and the number
of their inhabitants male and over
21 on election day.
In certain precincts in these
wards the returns showed that
more persons, male and over 21,
had voted than had registered.
Because of these things, Wil
liam A. Cunnea decided to con
test the election of Maclay Hoyne
and force a recount.
Cunnea had not money of his
own to force this recount of the
votes and so appealed to the

chinery of Cook County.
In tiie end it will be County
Judge John E. Owens who will
say whether Maclay Hoyne or
William A. Cunnea was elected
state's attorney. r
All of which things make that
flocking together of the birds?
known as Andy Lawrence, Coun
ty Judge John E. Owens -and
Maclay Hoyne extremely inter-!
And as we said before, we
don't doubt for a moment that
the birds while flocking together
in Schjogl's discussed something
like a new way of taking the holes'
out of Swiss cheese.
