Just before that, John Sims, a
Daily- News thug and deputy
sheriff, was indicted for -bigamy.
Sims' bond was fixed at $2,000
by the grand jury, but he never
was asked to supply the bond.
Police, sheriff, and municipal
court bailiffs say they cannot find
him, although he has been seen in
Ghicago several times since he
v- A DELICATE DOG
A gentleman went into a store
and told the proprietor he wanted
to buy a dog to take abroad with
"Certainly, sir," said the clerk,
"I've got the very thing' ' .
In a quarter of an hour he
brought out the animal, the cus
tomer paid the money, and de
parted. Before his train time, however,
a heavy shower fell, and the gen
tleman returned with the dog in a
state of great indignation.
"Look at him !" he cried. "Give
me my money back 1 All his spots
are washed off in the rain."
The proprietor, apologized.
"It's all that stupid .fool's mis
take!" He called to the clerk,
"James, did you sell that dog to
