Adlai E Stevenson, 15-year-old
grandson of former Vice-President
Adlai E. Stevenson, acci
dentally shot and killed Ruth
Merwin, a 16-year-old girl, at a
party at young Stevenson's home
The boy, who has been attend
ing military college, is at home
for the holidays. His parents gave
a party to 50 of his young friends.
Stevenson secured an "Unloaded"
bid musket from the garret to

When he reached the order
"aim and fife" he pointed the gun
at Miss Merwin and pulled the
trigger. There was a loud re
port and the girl fell to the floor
with a bullet through her head.

mal investigation is being made
A verdict of accidental killing is
expected from the coroner's jury.
Frank Brurio, 15, 843 Ewing
street, was shot and instantly,
killed by an "unloaded" revolver
in the hands of his sister, Mary,
Mary attempted to play a joke
on her brother by holding him up
as he entered their home. She hid
behind the door with a revolver
in her hand. "Hands Up," she or
dered as Frank entered the house.
The girl pulled the trigger and
her brother fell at her feet. He
died last night at the county hos
pital. Mary was not arrested.

Herbert Bonham, 143344 W,
Division street, played hold-up
with four other boys in a vacant
lot near his. hoirte. One of tHe
boys had an air rifle. Herbert was
the victim. He was shot in the
right side of the head.
When the police arrived the
four other boys had fled and Bon
ham was unable to tell who shot
him. -He will recover
