Doors of His Homes and Serve Subpoena on
Him Government s Thinking It Over.

Springfield, 111., Jan. 2. Is
eggs eggs, or is eggs chickens ?
This is a highly important
question to the postmaster at
Peoria, 111., because two dozen
eggs' sent by the new parcel post
chose to violate the law and be
come chickens right in the post
master's private office.
Supposedly the eggs were fresh
when they started out, but the
car they went down in was pretty
hot, and they arrived in Peoria
just after the only delivery of the
day had gone. So they had an
other day of warmth there.
When the postmaster heard
the "peep peeping" of those eggs,
he ordered an investigation right
away, because it is against the
law to send chickens through the

know now, is how to charge for
those eggs. And are they eggs ?
