can't be done, because he already

Cook will take the question as
to whether he is dead or alive up
to the supreme court, and his plea
will be the most extraordinary
ever before that august body.
This is the way of it: Last July
the supreme court granted Cook
a writ of supersedeas. But there
was a string to the writ. This was
that unless Cook's attorneys filed
certain abstracts and briefs with
in sixty, days, Cook should be
hanged November 12.
