to the supreme court, and his plea
will be the most extraordinary

This is the way of it: Last July
the supreme court granted Cook
a writ of supersedeas. But there
was a string to the writ. This was
that unless Cook's attorneys filed
certain abstracts and briefs with
in sixty, days, Cook should be
hanged November 12.
