Mrs. William H. Taft' set a "new social precedent the other day
by inviting the wives of ex-presidents to dine with her at the White
House. Mrs. Roosevelt was not present, and presumably was not
invited. The guests of honor therefore were two in number
Mrs. Benjamin Harrison and Mrs. Grover Cleveland.
Mrs. Cleveland is shown at the right,-snapped as she was leav
ing the home of John Hays Hammond for the White House. At
