ENFORCE THE LAW AND SAVE HUMAN LIFE An act to provide for the health, safety and comfort of em ployes in factories, mercantile es tablishments, mills and work shops in this state, and to pro vide for the enforcement thereof. Section 15. Door how con structed. -All doors used by em ployes as entrances or exits from any factory, mercantile establish ment, mill, or workshop, of a height of two stories or over, shall open outward, slide or roll, and shall be so constructed as to be easily and immediately opened from within in case of fire or other emergency. The inquest over the body of Anna Imroth, burned to death in the Riordan factory fire January 21, has not yet been held. The Riordan factory, even counting its first story dropped two feet below the level of the sidewalk to evade the law as a basement, was two stories high, and therefore comes under the provision of the above act.' Ann Imroth's burned, blacken ed body was found crumpled against a door in the Riordan fac tory that opened inward. prosecute all violations of the same before any magistrate or any court of competent jurisdic tion in this state, and for that pur pose they and each of them are hereby empowered to visit and inspect, at all reasonable times, all such factories, mercantile es tablishments, mills and work shops in this state. Section 25 of the same act quoted above reads : It shall be the duty of the Chief State Factory Inspector and of the Assistant Chief State Factory Inspector, and deputy factory in spectors, under the direction arid supervision of the Chief State Factory Inspector to enforce the Deputy Coroner Sam Davis has promised The Day Book to call upon State Factory Inspector Edgar Davies to appear at the in quest over Anna Imroth and ex plain the connection of his de partment with the conditions in the Riordan factory, conditions which were in violation of the law and which cost one human life. The Day Book prints the ex cerpts from the state law so that Sam Davis, who admitted that he did not know the state factory in spector had anything to do with the Riordan factory conditions, may know just exactly what the law is before he questions Davies, or his assistant or deputy, on the stand.
