"Mr. LeBosky has asked me to appoint him special prosecutor
at Barrett's trial for the murder cf Witt. It is against the policy
of this office to appoint special prosecutors in criminal cases of this
naturt, and John J. Healy, attorney for the Chicago Newspaper As
sociation, is opposing the appointment of LeBosky. I have not yet
made up my mind what to do. In view of this last murder of Bar
rett's I may consent to the appointment of LeBosky."
