At the National League sched
ule meeting Brooklyn was al
lowed to open the season April 9
at home with Philadelphia.
President Comiskey, on his ar
rival from New York, confirmed
the plans for a world's tour of the
Sox and New York Giants at the
close of the 1913 season. The two
teams will leave directly after the
world's series, should either win
the pennant. Chicago will be the
starting point, and games will be
played between here and 'Frisco
in all the large cities. Nov. 4 the
ball tossers will sail from San
Francisco, and before they see
America again will exhibit the
game in Hawaii, Japan, China,
Philippines, Australia, Egypt,
Italy and France. Returning
toward the close of February,
1914, they will go to the Southern
training camps for the spring
sprouts.
In Japan and the Philippines
the teams may vary their battles
against each other by contests
with local teams. Some of the
Jap colleges have taken to the
game and teams sent over here
have compared favorably with
the college players of this coun
try. In the Philippines there are
some good clubs among the sol
diers and sailors, and a regular
league season is one of the con
necting links with home.
