SAYS FRIEDMANN IS NOT
GIVEN A FAIR CHANCE
New YoX March 5. While
Dr. FriecTerich Franz Friedmann,
the Berlin scientist who claims to
have a cure for tuberculosis, is
making a vain hunt for a place to
carry on his experiment" blocked
at every turn by New Yorkphy-
sicians, hundreds of people who
came heer to test the treatment
are suffering terribly. . ,
Many of'those who came, buoy
ed by the'hope of cure, had barely
enough money to pay their rail
road fare. That has dwindled to
nothing. -- .
The board of medical "examin
ers has practically harred Fried
mann from conducting his ex
periments in local hospitals. The.
Waldorf hote, lmanagement has
asked the doctor to move.
Charles H. Finlay, the banker,
who offered Friedmann $1,000,
000 if his cure was a success,
made an appeal for fair play to
day. He said: x
"Give the man a chance to
work, as welf as a chance to talk.
Thousands of consumptives are
waiting, begging for a chance to
i)e cured. Dr. Frie"dmann is beg
ging for a chance td cure them.
Is :it fair to condemn this man,
who has not had aance? It is
more than unjust iiis inhuman.
"While this talk is going on
people are dying. Great God ! Dr.
Friedmann is not to blame. Tread
