RESIGNATION OF MRS. YOUNG
WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
Mrs. Ella Flagg Young's resigna
tion as superintendent of the Chicago
public schools will be rejected by an
overwhelming vote, according to a
poll of the board of education today.
Sixteen of the twenty-one mem
bers declared they would support a
resolution to refuse to accept the
resignation. Representatives of wo
men's clubs today asked Mayor Har
rison to appoint women to fill seven
vacancies soon to occur on the board.
