Dowagiac, Mich., Sept. 17. Police
investigating alleged attack on Har
vey Beach, local high school boy,
seriously ill as result of being "brand
ed" while on visit in Benton Harbor.
Beach charges that crowd of Ben
ton Harbor high school students cut
initials "B. H." into his hands and
face with a knife and then poured
nitrate of silver into bleeding wounds,
Doctors say if boy recovers he will
be marked for life. Motive for attack
may have been desire by Benton Har
bor to keep Beach off Dowagiac foot
ball team this fall. Athletic relations
between two schools have been sev
ered since the incident
