DOC COOK IS IN AGAIN
Washington, Oct. 30. Can Doctor
Cook "come back?" A serious effort
is being made by friends of the dis
credited polar explorer to get a con
gressional investigation into the doc
tor's claims. A petition bearing hun
dreds of signatures has been forward
ed to all the members of the delega
tion from the state of Washington, as
follows: "We, the undersigned citi
zens of the state of Washington, most
earnestly' petition and urge you to
,use all honorable means to bring
about a national investigation into
the North Polar controversy and pro
vide for a suitable recognition of the
one to whom the honor belongs. If
.Doctor Cook reached the North Pole
April 21, 1908, as most Arctic explor
ers believe and have sot expressed
themselves, then a gross wrong has
heen done Doctor Cook by the seem
ing endorsement to another by the
' government and by honors wrongly
conferred. In the name of justice and
for the honor of the American flag,
, use your every energy to bring about
'this investigation."
