Philadelphia, Nov. 4. Members of
city councils, a district attorney, nine
municipal judges, four city magis
trates, three common pleas judges
and one superior court judge to be
elected here. Incoming council will
spend $150,000,000 in next two years.
Organization and citizens' candidate
Gary, Ind. The governor's inti
mation that state militia would in
vade town has quieted rioting. Fight
over election of mayor.
Boston. Gubernatorial election.
Pittsburgh. Six men claiming to
be Burns' detectives arrested as sus
picious persons, two others faced
charges of intimidating voters. Burns
was engaged by Oliver-Penrose cam
paign committee to prevent fraud at
polls. Said to have 100 detectives
here. Municipal election.
Indianapolis. Fight on for mayor.
Baltimore. Electing U. S. senator
under new direct election law, a state
comptroller, a legislature and a few
city and county officials.
Albany, N. Y. Effect of Sulzer im
peachment apparently favorable to
New York. Ffght between Tam
many and Fusion party for election
Cleveland. Municipal election and
five constitutional amendments. Lo
cal electiqns in Columbus, Cincinnati,
Dayton and Toledo,
Terre Haute, Ind. Democratic

Davis badly beaten.
The suffrage committee of the Wo
men's Trade Union League will give
a course of six free lectures on "civ
ics and government," by Mrs. Jane'
Johnstone Christie. The first one will
be Nov. 6 in the School of Civics and
Philanthropy, 116 S. Michigan av.
