clean, wholesome little comedy has
blossomed out on Broadway and,
strange to relate, it is "adapted from
the French!"

because the adapter is Holman Day,
famed as- an author of stories con
cerning the old salts who inhabit the
coasts of- Maine. That's where the
scene of "Along Came Ruth" is laid
Oldport, Me:, and the play concerns
the-Oldport folks and Ruth, who just
happens along and stirs Oldport up
as nothing ver has before.
Getting a job 'in a hopelessly old
fashioned store, she puts it on its feet
through uprto-date methods, starts a
town boom, captivates the entire
male population, and, of course, cap-
