Yet, Miss Frances Burr, a normal
schoolteacher, playing "Bessea in
the High Priestess to Kama," did' it
Her friends gasped!
And Miss Burr further shocked
these same friends by inducing seven
perfectly sane girl friends to make
the jump with her.
The girls and their bare legs and
their alluring dances were first seen
here and the chief of police was an
interested spectator. These girls were
young and unsophisticated and the
chief was there to protect them
that is, to prohibit their act if it didn t
meet with his approval.
"I'm gMd "the act succeeded," said
Miss Burr, "because everybody was
so astonished and hprrified when we
started. Our friends asked us all
sorts of silly questions about how it
