DANGEROUS TO DEFENDANTS

Attacks on the municipal court act
will bemade till the end of the cam
paign by all trade union speakers and
They charge that it has some of
the most cunning jokers ever slipped
into a legislative measure. What the
act means is not shown in any way
on the little ballot to be voted on at
the next ejection. The question sim
ply reads: v
"For the act entitled, 'An Act in
Relation to the Municipal Court of

in Relation to the Municipal Court of
It was passed by the legislature last
June. The referendum on election
day will either endorse it and put it
into effect as a law right away on the
day after election or it will be killed
and that will be the end of it.
Fifty-two law book pages are
taken up by the many long words and
cunning jokers of the act. Two points
are marked as especially vicious.
1. That a policeman shall have
the power to arrest citizens without
warrant even though the policeman
has not seen the arrested citizen do
an unlawful deed.
2. That 'the grand jury shall be
abolished for all felony cases except
treason and murder.
