Wash, a country town near here, recently hadthe'most startling experience

Leaping from a taxi she.had hired that was speeding 30 miles an hour,
she chose what seemed certain death to escape irom the man. who had ab
ducted her. She was" badly hurt and was picked up unconscious.
"When I began screaming he choked me and cursed.me," said the girl.
"I fought just as hard as I could and was getting .weak wien.the door came
open. I realized .that -it might mean death if I' jumped. But I preferred
