Los Angeles, Cal. heiress to $25, 000, but compelled to live on $10 a week because her father's estate of $112,000 cannot be divided until aft er the death of her step-mother, is the situation confronting pretty Mrs. Julia Troconiz Mayers. Mrs. Mayers reared in the lap of 4uxury,.is the "baby" daughter of the late Julian Troconiz, pioneer of this city. She recently separated from her husband and is now relying on the money she earns for support. "Before my father died I had $20 a week for pin money," she says, "in addition to all my expenses. N.ov? I live on the $10 a week I earn." She cannot contest her father's will, for a codicil provides that any members of the family who makes such an attack forfeits all claim to the estate. "My sisters," says Mrs. Mayers, "can afford to wait for their share. They are supported by husbands. But for me, used to all the spending money I wanted, it is going to be dreadful. "I can't even afford to contest the will." SAUSAGE AND SWEET POTATO Wash six good-sized sweet potatoes. Put on to boil. When cooked so you can pierce with fork remove, peel and slice into shallow tin in layers. Salt and slightly pepper each layer. Also dot with little bits of butter. Put lay er of either link or sausage cakes on top. Put in oven and bake hard for fifteen minutes. Serve in same dish. A good housekeeper will save all fat from sausage to be used for fry ing purposes, carrots or parsnips. The spice and flavoring gives these vege tables an added flavor. If sausage, when frying, has little fat, you may be sure they contain beef, and you should not pay the same price as for those made only of. pork. o o ONLY ONCE .
