.. r One of the significant signs of. the tunes is the new interest people are
taking in newspapers. ,1 say new interest because it is entirely different
from the old. interest, whioh merely consisted in reading newspapers and
taking for granted much of what they offered-their readers by way of news
or information. -
The new interest asks what the newspaper is, whose it is,' what it rep-e
resents and' what it MEANS The readers want to go behind the scenes.
They want to see the editor without his make-up.

taken up the study of The DayBook; and I assume that means a stHdy of
the .newsDanei' business.
